Pre Holiday Update

Everyone is doing wonderfully in the Howard House. Wade is very excited about Santa’s visit, and Carson is growing like a weed. We have our tree up and the house decorated, so we are all ready for Santa’s visit.

Carson turned three months old last week we got some great pictures of him we wanted to share.

Wade has been having a blast with his new brother, and it’s so sweet to watch them play together.

We got some family pictures taken during our trip to Amarillo, hopefully we will be posting those soon.

Carson was 2 months old on halloween, he weighs 12 pounds 7.5 ounces and is doing great. He is sleeping pretty well, and we all coudldn't be happier.

Wade had so much fun on Halloween. He dressed up like a fireman and went trick or treating with his cousin Bella. He had a blast, but his little legs couldn't keep up for too long. Afterwards we came home and gave out candy. I think he enjoyed that the most, he was so cute standing on the porch shouting, "Come get your treats!!"

Wade is three years old today, such a big boy. We celebrated last weekend with a party at jumpin jungle and all his friends were there to help party! Wade had a blast. This afternoon will be full of fun times too for the whole family, in celebration of Wade's big day.

Carson will be three weeks old tomorrow. We saw the doctor on Friday and he's already gained a pound from his birth weight! He is 8 pounds 9.5 ounces, and growing like a weed. Wade is a very proud big brother, and things are settling in nicely here at the Howard house.

Carson is here! He was born August 31 at 2:37 pm. He weighed 7 pounds and 9 ounces and was 19 and a half inches long.

We are all so proud and happy to have this new addition to our little family, we've settled in at home and things couldn't be better.

Wade is a very proud big brother, but still a bit unsure of all the changes. It will take a little while for everyone to adjust.

We have a lot more pictures, and we will post them once things settle down a bit.

We took Wade bowling after school on Friday and he really enjoyed it. Here is a quick video of him bowling, watch to the end for his celebration.

I'm so very sorry for neglecting this blog - there is so much to keep up with these days that this blog just got pushed further and further down the priority list.

Never-the-less, we have news. Wade is going to be a big brother! The newest addition to the Howard (Or rather, the Cary Howard family - since the Craig Howard family is expanding as well) will be here in September! We are so excited and will keep you all posted on new information as we get it.

On that same note, we look forward to welcoming Wade's cousin, Hutton, in June!

Wade turned two last week and Cary and I are so astounded at what a big boy he's become. He was very excited to blow out his two candles, and is still singing happy birthday and asking to blow out the candles this week.

He is also very excited about halloween, he will be a pirate this year. We made it out to the Houston Zoo today to for ZooBoo, and it was a blast. Wade especially enjoyed watching the deer chow down on a pumpkin. He got to pick out his own pumpkin and color it himself - we all had a blast.

Sorry I have been so bad about updating the blog. With the holidays coming, I hope to do a better job!

Hello all, of course - we've been busy, thus the absence.

But we have news. First, poor Shiner girl had to have surgery. She had a hematoma on her ear, which we had to get fixed. She's ok now, but looked pretty sad afterwards. Here is Wader giving her a tentative pat on the butt.

And second, we are putting in a pool. We hope for construction to begin next week. As soon as we have pictures we will share progress of the pool build. It's been a hot summer here, as I am sure it's been everwhere. Stay cool - and God Bless.

Sorry it's been so long. We've been really busy! We've been having a blast with Wade these last few weeks. He's really talking a lot and LOVES to play outside. In fact we expanded our patio to have more mud free play space. Once we get a good picture of it we will share.

Wade has been learning how to play golf, baseball and football...and he's got quite an arm. We can't tell if he's a lefty or righty yet. He loves to watch Golf on television, which Daddy is happy about but me, not so much. His newest thing is saying, "Ready....GO!" which was what he was doing to try to hurry this golfer up. He also says it before he swings the golf club at the tennis ball that is sitting on the baseball tee.

Last weekend we went to the Rodeo. Wade got to pet a cow, which was surely the highlight of his week. He also enjoyed the pony ride.

Uncle Craig and Aunt Sarah!

Uncle Craig and Aunt Sarah came to see us this weekend and what a great time we had!! On Saturday we went to the zoo. We were so excited to show Wade all of the animals, since he is saying so many animal sounds now. Especially the lion, since Wade loves to roar!! Naturally Wade was very excited to see all the new things.

We all got to spend so much time playing, Wade was just so exhausted at the end of the weekend, but had a great time with Aunt Sarah and uncle Craig.

The final piece of exciting news is Wade's new Jeep. Cary went and picked it up over the weekend. Wade loves riding in it!

15 month Appt.

Just a quick update to let everyone know how Wade's 15 month check up went.

As we all expected Wade is doing great! Dr. Q was very impressed with all of his talking and expects him to be a proficient verbal communicator in 2-3 months. I swear the other night he said, "read to me". This morning he woke up asking for "Blues Clues" and even knows the songs and sings along.

He is 86% in height and 16% in weight. Tall and skinny, which doesn't surprise anyone. He did get 2 shots, but was a little trooper and only cried for a few minutes.

Wade and Brayden played together on Saturday night and it was so cute to watch them interact. They both go to the same babysitter during the week, so I think they will be good friends some day!!

Wade ate a big boy sandwich from Arby's yesterday and it was so cute. He actually only took a few bites, but it was cute none-the-less.

I know we are a little behind on posting, but I wanted to tell everyone Happy New Year!!

We are all doing great. Wade especially. He is getting some molars and really talking up a storm. He can practically run now and we have a hard time keeping up with him. We have some adorable videos we will share as soon as I get a moment to turn on the computer at home.

It's been an exciting few weeks here in Houston. First, it snowed on Wednesday night. This is a very rare sight in Houston and we just couldn't believe it!

Then, this morning Wade got to have breakfast with Santa and see all of his friends, it was so much fun!!

Pikeville, Kentucky

We went to Pikeville, Kentucky over the weekend for Uncle Craig's wedding. Pikeville is in the mountains of eastern Kentucky and it is absolutely beautiful there!

It was Wade's second plane ride and he did pretty well. The plane wasn't full so he got his own seat.

Once we landed in Lexington we had a two hour drive through the mountains to get to Pikeville. Wade got his very first happy meal.

On the road to Pikeville we saw lots of these beautiful old barns. I just thought they were so neat so I took some pictures.

Thursday night, it started to snow. This was Wade's first snow experience and he thought it was neat. We didn't think it was that much snow but we woke up to white outside, it was just beautiful.

Before the rehearsal dinner you won't believe who we saw walking through the lobby of the hotel!!

On the day of the wedding Wade had a blast playing football with Daddy and Uncle Craig while they waited around.

It was hard to get a good shot of Wade in his tux, but these are the best we got.

At the reception, Wade had a blast dancing with all the girls. Sarah looked beautiful in her dress.

Congratulations Craig and Sarah, we are so happy for you!!

On Sunday we had all day to kill so we went to the Kentucky Horse Park. Wade LOVED the horses. He was smiling and laughing at them and loved petting them. He's even learned how to say Horsey!!

We are looking forward to Thanksgiving this week. Wade will be able to eat the Turkey.

Yesterday Jamie came to cut Wade's hair. It was starting to look like a mullet, which is cool and all...but he has a wedding coming up and needs to look sharp. Jamie did a great job and Wade loves his new do. Here is a video of Wade splashing in the pond this weekend.

Hello all,

We have a few pictures to share. Here is a picture of the awesome truck that Aunt Pam got Wade for his birthday. He is still a bit small to drive it, but he loves to play in it.

We found Wade hanging out in his toy basket. It was hysterical. He had taken out a bunch of his toys and climbed right in.

And finally, here is a picture of Wade playing in the Tupperware cabinet, it's one of his favorite things to do.

We hope you are all doing well. Things are good here in Houston. Daddy got a new job so he won't have to drive a long time anymore and it's a great job too, we think he will love it.

Wade will be one year old on Wednesday and we just can't believe it's already been a year!! We had his party on Saturday, here is a picture of him enjoying his cake.

We had a wonderful party and once we get more time we will post more pictures and more about it.

Cary couldn't resist getting Wade a little battery operated 4 wheeler for his first birthday. He does pretty well on it, he can push the button and make it go...but hasn't really figured out steering yet.

Our Hurricane Ike Adventure.

Well, it was certainly an adventure.

It all started on Thursday when we stayed home from work to get the house ready. It was looking like Ike was headed our way, and there was no denying it. Cary headed off to Lowe's and picked up a generator. We couldn't believe they still had them. Then we began our preparations. We boarded the house and got all of our camping supplies out. We knew we'd be without power for a few days at least. Wade was a trooper, he didn't complain the whole time. In fact, I am not sure he even knew anything was going on. Here are some pictures of how we prepared the house:

Once we had everything ready, we just waited. Of course the news was doom and gloom, we were under a mandatory evacuation order but felt confident we'd be safe if we stayed in our house. It was a very long day...little did we know the next two days would seem even longer. Wade played while we waited:

We put Wade to bed, just as we normally would have and went to bed to try to get some rest ourselves. The wind started blowing pretty hard about 8 or 9 pm, but the worst wasn't expected until 2:00 am or so. We slept for an hour or two before we were up again, listening to the howling winds. It was dark outside so we really couldn't see much. We had power until about 1:00 am. Once the power went out we moved upstairs so we could hear Wade if he woke up. It was really howling outside and Cary and I started to get scared, but knew we were safe.

Around 3:00 am it got eerily quiet, and we knew from our battery operated television and the trusty weather guy, David Paul (who had been on the air since about 5 pm...he was getting pretty worn out) that the eye of the storm was on top of us. We couldn't resist the urge to head outside and check out the damage. It was so calm, but it smelled horrible...like dirty seawater. We really didn't see much damage at all so we really breathed a sigh of relief.

At that point we though we were in the clear. We knew the rest of the storm still had to pass over, but we figured we were at least at the halfway point. I went to sleep and Cary stayed up watching the TV. Wade woke up at about 5:45, so we were all up then. Cary and I had gotten very little sleep, but Wade was well rested!!

Here is what we woke up to, turns out the back half of the storm was a lot worse than the first:

The pictures don't really can't describe the feeling of walking outside and becoming aware of your surroundings after such an event. It's so strange...

Our house has minimal damage compared to many.

We made breakfast on our (thank goodness) gas stove..and waited for the wind and rain to subside a bit. It was dark in the house with no power and boards on the Windows, and hot from cooking breakfast. We finally got the boards down and windows open about 8 or 9 am. Thank God! We fired up the generator and just kind of wondered what to do next.

Of course we had to go out sight seeing. Here are some pictures we took on our journey.

The surge was so high it carried this sailboat up on the road.

Thankfully my parents had no real damage, just power out. My sister and her family still had power, but had many trees down in their yard.

After our drive, we came home and tried to figure out what to do next. It was HOT and we had no power. We did the best we could to keep Wade on his routine and that seemed to help a lot.

Later that night, our friends Erik and Serean who just moved to the area came over and we grilled a pork loin. It was delicious!

That evening we slept pretty comfortably thanks to our generator and a window unit AC Brenda and Les had brought us. Thank God for that window unit!!

When we woke the next morning it was raining again, but thankfully cooler.

We heard on the radio that pop tarts are the number one comfort/survival food for hurricanes...so of course we bought some. Wade loves pop tarts, it turns out!! He especially likes eating them in the garage while watching the rain!

Later that day it really cooled off since a cold front came through.

The area has been hit pretty hard, and from what we can tell the damage is very widespread. I am not sure when things will get back to normal in Houston/Galveston. But for now, it's a nice cool evening...things are cleaned up a little bit and everyone feels very luck to still have a roof over our heads...and food in our bellies.

Please pray for those that were hit the hardest, especially Galveston, Bolivar etc.

I survived hurricane Ike!

Well, we made it through hurricane Ike. Actually, I slept through it.

Our fence and roof suffered minor damage, but all in all we are very lucky. From what we can tell, Houston really got pounded so please send out a prayer for all the people of this area.

We have lots of pictures and a good story to tell. Once we get some time to post it all we will.

There is a hurricane that might come this way. Mom doesn't think so, but she likes to stay prepared all summer just in case so we don't have to stand in line with all the silly people who wait until the last minute to prepare. The only thing we usually have to pick up is water so Dad got some yesterday.

Don't worry about us, we are prepared if the storm comes!! Let's just hope we don't have to evacuate, YUCK!

Hi all! I had another great weekend with Mommy and Daddy. First we went to see Caden, my new friend who was born last week. He is really cute and I can't wait to play golf with him. His Mommy and Daddy, Lisa and Charlie, are doing well also. Here is a picture of me and my new buddy:

We also went for a bike ride, don't I look cute in my helmet? Mom says the cooler weather will be here soon and we can spend more time outside on our bikes and walking and in the garden. I can't wait.

Mom and Dad got to go play golf with their friends Serean and Erik. I didn't get to go, but Mom did let me play with her 5 wood (or iron, whatever.).

I hope everyone else had a great weekend too. Mom says next weekend is a long one, and maybe even longer if Mommy and Daddy take Friday off too. I can't wait!!

Mom made some gumbo today and I got to try it. I really liked it!! She did a good job for her first time and she was so relieved that I enjoyed it. Here is a picture of me enjoying gumbo. We got some bad news this morning, my great grandpa Harold passed away last night. He was a wonderful man and will be very missed. But we know they are partying in heaven today in celebration of his arrival. Mom is going to take me to Lousiana this week to see my great grandmother and to attend his funeral. Mom says she is taking me back to learn about my cajun roots, whatever that means. You will be missed Popo Harold, we love you.

What a week. I learned how to pull to standing this week. Mom says I will be walking in no time. But she also says that bedtime is more of a challenge now since I want to stand at my crib! If anyone has any suggestions for her, she welcomes them.

I got to go to my cousin Bella's third birthday party on Saturday, it was fun. It was at Jumpin Jungle where they have a bunch of bounce houses. Lauren and I got to bounce a little, but we were too small to play with the big kids.

Finally, on Sunday I got to go meet my friend Jackson. He was just born two weeks ago. He's a pretty cool dude even though he sleeps all the time. Someday, he will be bigger and we can play together.

I got to meet my new friend Brayden last night. He's only 9 months younger than me!! We will be in the same grade in school and everything. We are going to have lots of fun together. Now I just wait a few more weeks and then Jackson and Caden will be here too!! Daddy was teaching me how to flex my muscles and be a tough guy. Mommy got it on video:

I also wanted to share some good news, my Uncle Craig got engaged to his nice friend Sarah, which means she will be my aunt!! I am so happy for Uncle Craig and I can't wait to go to his wedding!! Most of all I can't wait to have some cousins!

Hi all, sorry I've been so quiet lately. I've got some pictures to share though.

Mommy and Daddy and I have had a wonderful holiday weekend so far. I got to try some watermelon, and it was really good!

Two weeks ago was Daddy's birthday, I helped Mommy make him a cake. He loved it and ate it all up. Mom says that's why his pants are so tight.

Our project for the last two weeks has been to get the playroom all ready for when I can crawl and play. Mom and Dad want to make sure I have a fun safe area all to myself. So Daddy sold his pool table. When we were cleaning out the room we found my bassinet from when I was a little, little baby. Can you believe I used to sleep in here?

The play room is going to be really neat. Mom and Dad cleaned the carpets and painted the walls. They even bought a new sofa to put in there so they can lay down and relax while I play. I will post more pictures once the room is finished. I am about to crawl any minute now, Mom and Dad are waiting anxiously with the video camera!!

I got this Elmo chair from cousin Bella. It was her favorite but she gave it to me. It laughs and giggles when you sit on it.

Mom is anxiously waiting for the pictures the nice lady named Lezlie Andrew took of us. They should be available for your viewing pleasure soon, and as soon as they are we will post them to share. I hope everyone had a great 4th of July. I am almost 9 months old, I will post more then!!

What an exciting weekend it was. I took my first trip on an airplane to see Grandma and Grandpa in Amarillo. I had so much fun. I got to meet my great grandparents. Here is a cool picture of 4 generations of Howard's.

I also got to meet Foster who I have been reading so much about. He is two months older than me. He's a pretty cool dude, I hope we can go to Texas A&M together someday. Also, check out the neat teddy bear that Grandma and Grandpa gave me, his name is Woodsy.

All in all, it was a great weekend and I can't wait to go back!

Well, today has been a big day. I got to fly on an airplane for the first time...it was no big deal, so I decided to sleep the whole way to Amarillo.

Almost as soon as we got here, these huge storms built up and we were put under a tornado warning and the sirens started going off...so, just like you are supposed to do when the sirens go off, we went outside to see if we could see a tornado. I didn't see anything, but it was kind of windy and felt funny blowing through my fuzzy hair..check out the video and listen carefully for the sirens!

Mommy said that since the economy is in a recession we should go out and do our patriotic duty by spending a bunch of money on toys. So we went to Wal Mart and Mom bought me this new car. Foster has one and we loved it so much I had to get one.

It's fun!!

I was playing with Daddy's shoe when he got home from work the other day and Mom kept saying, "Wade, can you believe your foot will be that big someday?" Dad's got big feet, they are almost as big as me!!

I got to spend three whole days with Mommy and Daddy this weekend and we had so much fun together. We went to the pool twice, and I got to go to Galveston to see my cousin Juliana dance in her dance recital, she did wonderful! I really enjoyed watching all the girls dance and Mom said I was so well behaved she just couldn't believe it.

I also got to see my cousin Lauren again, and look...we can both sit up!!

On Saturday Mom and Dad took me to Toy's R Us and bought me a swing. Look how fun!!

Dad bought a new toy this weekend. It's a trailer for me to ride in behind his bicycle. I really enjoy going for rides in my chariot!! And Mom and Dad really enjoy being able to cruise again.

I really love my doggies. I especially love the big, funny-looking, yellow one, Jimo. He's such a silly dog and I love to laugh at him. The doggies kind of keep their distance from me, but now and then they come over to sniff me or lick my feet. That really makes me laugh.

Today my cousin Lauren got Baptised. She looked beautiful in her couture dress designed by her Uncle Frank. I was very happy for her. Plus we got to play together again!

Also, I am an independent sitter now!! It's so neat to be able to sit all on my own. I can see the world from a whole new point of view. I am still a little bit wobbly but each time I sit I am getting more and more stable.

I got Mommy a beautiful Opal ring for Mother's day. Opal is my birthstone. Daddy helped me pick it out and pay for it. It's really pretty.

Mommy and Daddy sold my big red boat this weekend. But it's ok, now we have our garage back!

Since I had a fever and I was already on antibiotics, Mom and Dad decided to take me to the neighborhood pool for my first swimming adventure.

At first, it was really cold and reminded me of the bath tub incident yesterday, but once I got used to it...I really loved swimming. It was like a HUGE bath...and there are lots of other kids there to watch. You can splash all you want too. I can't wait to go swimming again.

Urgent care, double ear Infection and a shot.

I woke up this morning with a fever, and Mom and Dad had gut feeling something was wrong so they took me to urgent care. It's a good thing too because I have a double ear infection. The nurse gave me a shot of antibiotics which made me really grumpy.

Here is a picture Mommy took with her blackberry of me at the hospital with my ankle bracelet. It's kind of blurry.

Later that afternoon my temperature shot up to 103.5 so Mommy and Daddy thought it would be a good idea to put me in my bath tub, but the water was cold!!! I thought that was a horrible idea and I hope they never do that to me again. Even though it was horrible, I did feel a little better afterwards and was able to drink my bottle.

Later, after I had taken some yummy berry flavored medicine (I've been taking a lot of medicine lately) I felt much, much better and was ready to play in my swing.

Mom and Dad hope I start to get better soon. They've been really, really worried about me. In case anyone is keeping track, this is the third time I've had infected ears...that's 5 ears, in only one month. :(

Mom and Dad bought me a new sippy cup a couple weeks ago. I have been using it a little with water, but today they put some apple juice in it. I'm a big fan of apple juice!

Six Month Doctor Visit.

I saw the doctor today for my 6 month visit. I weighted 17 pounds and 10 ounces and I am 27.25 inches long. My ears were all cleared up.

I got two shots though, and that was horrible. I feel a litle better now though.

The weather has been so beautiful here in Houston. Yesterday Daddy took me running, or rather, standing in my new beach ball sprinkler! The water was cold but that's ok because it was kind of hot outside. I really enjoyed it. I really can't wait until the pool opens and I can go swimming for the first time!!

I spent my half birthday in the doctors office. Turns out the medicine that Dr. Q gave me wasn't strong enough for whatever bug I've got. I woke up with a fever and was feeling rotten, so Mom stayed home with me. I went to the doctors office again and they gave me more medicine and pricked my finger to get blood to make sure I didn't have pneumonia (I can't believe I am 6 months old and I already know how to spell pneumonia).

I am feeling better already, as you can tell from my 6 month pictures, aren't I a big boy??

Mommy made me some pancakes for breakfast. She was SOOOO excited to get to make pancakes for me for the first time. Daddy is a BIG pancake fan so he was excited that I finally get to eat them. I really enjoyed them!! I hope I get to eat pancakes everyday!!!!

What a month!

I just realized the sixth month of my life is almost over. Mom just can't believe I will be half a year old in a few days. I've been kind of sick the last two weeks, I have an ear infection and am getting over a cold. Despite this, I've been having lots of fun.

Last week Mommy and Daddy took me to the strawberry patch so Mommy could pick strawberries. Daddy is allergic so he and I just watched...Mom said the berries are yummy and maybe, someday, I can have some.

I've really been enjoying my exersaucer. Its so much fun to bounce up and down and play with all of the toys. Mom took some video and some pictures, check it out:

Mom's letting me explore more food. They gave me a waffle last week, and I liked sucking on it, but I didn't really eat much of it. I also got to try a veggie chip today, I loved it.

Dad bought me a new camo jumper, so we had to take a picture in front of the bluebonnets...but I was more interested in the crazy green stuff!! I wonder if it would taste good?

It's only a few days until my half birthday...I'll post more then!!

Easter Sunday!

It's my first Easter. Mom told me about how today is the day that Jesus rose from the dead and we celebrate it every spring. She also told me about the Easter Bunny!! He brought me a swim suit, some clothes, and a basketball, football and soccer ball.

Yesterday was Good Friday, which means Mommy and Daddy stayed home and we got to spend family time together. Then we went over to Granny's where we put little white things in colored water. Here are some pictures from my first time on our big red boat!!! I really enjoyed it. The first thing I did was fall fast asleep. The roar of the engine and rocking of the and the water just made for the best napping conditions ever!! Then I got to sit on Mom's lap and look all around. I saw big houses and water and even fishes jumping!! There were other big boats too. I can't wait to go on the boat again.

5 Months Old!

Well I am five months old today!! What a great five months it's been. I am trying really hard to sit up. I've rolled over from my tummy to my back, and I am working hard to roll over from my back to my tummy.

I've just started enjoying my exersaucer quite a bit. It's a fun toy. Also, Mom and Dad fed me some peaches....I wasn't real sure what to think of that.

I am getting ready for summer!! Mom and Dad showed me the big boat in our garage and told me I'd get to ride on it. They got me a life jacket and some sunglasses...I am so excited for this summer.

I'm a very lucky baby and Mom and Dad are very lucky parents to have me.

Now Mom wants to type some serious stuff, I am off to play with Daddy!

Please pray for our friends Richard and Jennifer and their baby Lilly. Precious Lilly passed away Monday, and we've just returned from her funeral in Dallas. She was only 4 months old. The Thomas family could use all the prayers they can get to help them through the coming hard times.

I got baptised this weekend. It was great. My uncle Craig and his friend Sarah came to see me, and so did grandma and grandpa.

Granny and Aunt Pam are my God Mommies. I get to have two because I am so special. Uncle Craig is my God father...

Afterwards we all got to eat Cake Lady cake and I got presents. I also got to see all my cousins, it was great fun!
